Senator Shehu Buba Umar Denies Alleged PDP Governorship Form Purchase, Reaffirms APC Loyalty

May 10, 2026 2 minutes read

By Muhammad Sani Muazu

Shehu Buba Umar has dismissed reports linking him to the purchase of a governorship nomination form under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, describing the claim as false and politically motivated.

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Communication, Comrade Sabo Mohammed, the senator said a purported payment receipt circulating online and in political circles suggesting that a PDP governorship form was purchased in his name did not originate from him or his associates.

The senator, who is aspiring for the governorship seat under the All Progressives Congress, said he neither authorised nor directed anyone to obtain any nomination form on his behalf under the PDP platform.

According to the statement, those allegedly involved in the transaction are unknown to him and acted without his consent, approval, or knowledge.

Senator Shehu Buba Umar reaffirmed his loyalty to the APC, stressing that he remains a committed and bona fide member of the ruling party and is pursuing his political ambition strictly within the party’s constitutional framework and guidelines.

He described the circulation of the alleged receipt as a calculated attempt by political opponents and mischief makers to mislead the public, create confusion among APC supporters, and weaken his growing political support across the state.
The statement urged party members, supporters, and the general public to disregard what it termed false information and politically motivated propaganda aimed at causing unnecessary tension within the APC.

The senator also assured his supporters that he remains focused on promoting progressive leadership, good governance, youth empowerment, economic growth, and the development of the state through the APC platform.

Meanwhile, the senator’s legal team has been directed to investigate the source of the alleged fraudulent document and initiate legal action against any individual or group found to be involved in impersonation, defamation, cyber manipulation, or dissemination of false information intended to damage his reputation.

The statement further warned that document forgery, impersonation, and the spread of false information capable of harming an individual’s reputation are punishable offences under Nigerian law, including provisions of the Cybercrimes Act.

Senator Shehu Buba Umar, however, expressed confidence in the continued support of APC stakeholders, delegates, and residents of the state, while calling on party faithful to remain calm, united, and committed to strengthening the party ahead of future elections.
