In Bauchi, the State Civil Service Commission has suspended six officers on allegations of serious misconduct. The suspensions were approved during the Commission’s final plenary session before recess, held on November 14 at its conference hall.
The officers, all attached to the State Infrastructure Development and Maintenance Agency (BASIDMA), are alleged to have sold or converted government property removed from the ongoing construction of bridge flyovers at Wunti and Central Market in Bauchi, worth millions of naira. Their actions reportedly violate Section 0327 of the Bauchi State Public Service Regulations, leading to their suspension under Section 0331, pending further investigation.
Those suspended include Mohammed Musa Saye, Chief Store Officer; Ado Abba Pali, Senior Technical Officer; Danladi Noma, Senior Fireman; Garba Nuhu, Senior Works Superintendent; Ibrahim Inuwa, Technical Assistant Electrical; and Uzairu Mudi, also a Technical Assistant Electrical. The suspensions took effect from November 14.
In addition to the suspensions, the Commission approved the acting appointment of a Deputy Director of Planning, promoted 79 officers, and converted three staff in environmental health and executive positions from agencies including the Bauchi State Environmental Protection Agency (BASEPA) and the State Drugs Consumables Management Agency.
Two nursing officers, Rakiya Musa and Ibrahim Muhammad Lawan, were reinstated, and the Bauchi Radio Corporation has been directed to resubmit promotion recommendations to ensure inclusion of a previously sidelined petitioner, Bashir Idris.
As part of its announcements, the Commission will observe a recess from November 25 to 28 to allow members, including the Chairman, Alhaji Abubakar Usman Madakin Bunun Bauchi, to attend the Annual Council of Federal and State Civil Service Commissions meeting in Katsina.
Permanent Commissioner Dr. Dauda Abdullahi, speaking on behalf of other commissioners, expressed confidence in Chairman Madakin’s leadership, commending his commitment to advancing the Commission’s work. He also praised the dedication of the Secretariat, led by Permanent Secretary Alhaji Isa Mohammed Tahir, encouraging them to maintain their high standards of service.
