Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, has fulfilled a major campaign promise made during the 2019 general elections with the creation of the long-awaited Sayawa Chiefdom, a development widely described as historic and reassuring.
During the 2019 campaign, the governor had pledged to establish the Sayawa Chiefdom, a promise that was initially met with skepticism by many, given the complex challenges and prolonged agitation surrounding the issue for over five decades. Observers at the time viewed the pledge as a political statement, doubting its feasibility.
However, recent developments have proven otherwise, as the governor has now delivered on the commitment, a move that has been applauded by stakeholders and members of the Sayawa community. The fulfilment of the promise is seen as a landmark achievement that will be remembered positively in the political history of Bauchi State.

The appointment of General Yake Koko Komo as the head of the newly created Sayawa Chiefdom has also been welcomed. He isq widely regarded as a leader with the capacity, experience, and unifying qualities needed to foster peace, unity, and development among his people.
Commentators have described Governor Bala Mohammed as a record-breaking leader who consistently upholds the rights of all tribes and religions in the state without bias, reinforcing his administration’s commitment to fairness, inclusion, and social justice.
Members of the Sayawa community have expressed gratitude to the governor, describing the creation of the chiefdom as a long-awaited victory and a source of renewed hope for unity and progress.
