Bauchi Narrative Launches Community-Driven Roundtable to Transform Ideas into Action

By Muhammad Sani Muazu

The Bauchi Narrative, a people-centered movement committed to redefining community storytelling, innovation, and local transformation, has launched a roundtable discussion aimed at translating shared ideas into practical community impact through its Post-Program Legacy Project (PPLP).

The event, which brought together youth leaders, professionals, innovators, and development advocates from across Bauchi State, provided a platform for stakeholders to deliberate on how to turn insights from previous sessions into measurable grassroots initiatives.

Speaking during the session, the Managing Director of Albarka Radio, Engineer Umar Ladan Salihu, emphasized the importance of translating ideas into tangible action, commending The Bauchi Narrative for creating an implementation-focused platform rather than another talk-based gathering.

“I’ve attended several roundtable discussions where ideas are shared, but this is the first one that focuses on how to implement those ideas,” he said.
“We need to go beyond discussions and build systems that drive impact. At Albarka Radio, we have mentored and trained hundreds of young people who are now making meaningful contributions across various sectors. But what truly matters is mindset change—creating a culture of learning and applying that knowledge for community development.”

Engineer Umar, who has years of industrial and media experience, called for stronger partnerships between media organizations, innovation hubs, and learning institutions to deepen mentorship opportunities and improve the quality of training in Bauchi State.

“The partnership between The Bauchi Narrative and Coursera is a great initiative,” he added. “But we must ensure that the beneficiaries are properly mentored to make real impact. Providing training materials alone is not enough—we need to build people who understand the purpose of the training and how to apply it effectively.”

Also speaking, Bilkisu Sambo, founder of Meenal Learning Foundation, urged participants to focus on mentoring and mindset development rather than simply distributing skill-acquisition materials.

“Entrepreneurship is not just about owning a business or calling yourself a CEO,” she said. “It’s a journey that begins with hard work, learning, and self-discovery. Before engaging youths in entrepreneurship programs, they must first be mentored and prepared to understand the value of hustling and the risks that come with building a business.”

Bilkisu explained that many skill-acquisition programs fail because participants are not matched with their passions or adequately mentored to see long-term purpose in what they learn.

“We need to stop selecting people randomly for training,” she advised. “Let’s help them discover themselves, mentor them, and then guide them into entrepreneurship. That’s how we can build true business owners who create lasting impact in their communities.”

The Bauchi Narrative, which operates across all 20 local government areas of Bauchi State, aims to connect people, share ideas, and create change through live sessions and community-driven projects. Its Post-Program Legacy Project (PPLP) is designed to turn the most promising ideas from discussions into actionable initiatives with measurable community outcomes.

Through this initiative, the movement seeks to inspire collaboration among young people, innovators, and professionals in Bauchi, fostering a culture of problem-solving and innovation that contributes to sustainable local development.
