Bauchi Shines at 9th National Youth Games as Young Gymnast Clinches Silver

Bauchi State has continued to make its mark at the ongoing 9th National Youth Games holding in Asaba, Delta State, with another remarkable victory that has lifted the spirit of its contingents.

Young gymnast, Abdulwahab Abdullahi, on Saturday won a silver medal in gymnastics, bringing pride to the state and further boosting the morale of the athletes and officials representing Bauchi at the national competition.

The 9th edition of the National Youth Games has featured hundreds of young athletes from across Nigeria competing in various sporting disciplines. Bauchi’s latest success underscores the state’s growing presence in the national sports scene.

Speaking shortly after presenting the medal to the winner, the Head of Technical at the Bauchi State Sports Council, Coach Bala Magaji Juwara, commended the young gymnast for his outstanding performance. He described the achievement as “a sign of steady progress in sports development” and urged stakeholders to sustain youth empowerment through sporting activities.

“This performance not only places Bauchi State on the national map but also contributes significantly to the sustainable development of young talents across Nigeria. It is a strong indication that our athletes can compete favorably with the best in the country,” Juwara said.

Meanwhile, the Bauchi contingents are still in contention for more honors, with three crucial finals lined up for tomorrow. They include:

Male Singles Final.

Another Male Singles Final.

Female Team Event.

Sports analysts believe that victories in these events could further elevate Bauchi’s medal haul and strengthen the state’s position at the Games.

The Bauchi State Sports Council has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the athletes, stressing that the state government remains focused on creating opportunities for youths to thrive through sports.
