Cleric Urges Nigerians to Repent for Peace and Prosperity

By Muhammad Adamu

Islamic scholar Sayyadi Aliyu Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi has called on Nigerians to turn away from sin as a path to achieving national peace and prosperity. Speaking at this year’s Maulud Nabiy celebration in Bar-Bununu Village, Sheikh Dahiru Usman stressed that Nigeria’s progress depends on the moral reform of its citizens.

Addressing the gathering, the cleric expressed concern over the neglect of religious values and widespread engagement in immoral acts, which he attributed to the many challenges facing the nation. He urged Muslims to return to Allah by adopting virtues like honesty, love, tolerance, patience, generosity, sympathy, and compassion — values exemplified by the Prophet Muhammad (SAW). Sheikh Dahiru Usman noted that these qualities are essential for resolving both personal and communal issues.

Alhaji Abdullahi Muazu, the head of Bar village, also spoke at the event, encouraging the Muslim community to live according to the teachings shared during the Maulud celebration. He highlighted the importance of these virtues for a righteous life and salvation in the hereafter.

The Maulud celebration drew hundreds of participants from Bar and nearby areas. Highlights included a biography of the Prophet Muhammad, Qur’anic recitations, and songs of praise performed by children from various Islamiyya schools.
