A university lecturer has called on the Bauchi state government to increase budgetary allocation into the animal agriculture sub-sector so as to improve the sector.
The call was made by former Vice-Chancellor the University of Maiduguri and executive member of Pastoral Resolve, Professor J D Amin while delivering a speech at a graduation ceremony of community animal health workers who are trained on basic animal health care services in Bauchi.
The selected participants from Gamawa and Shira were trained by pastoral resolve in collaboration Bauchi state ministry of agriculture with the aim of developing the livestock value chain in the state.
Professor J D Amin called on government at all levels and other non-governmental organizations to further partner on Youth empowerment toward reducing poverty and social vices in the society.
The special guest of honour at the event who is the governor of Bauchi state Bala Abdulkadir Muhammad expressed the state government readiness to continue collaborating with government and non-governmental organizations with a view to improving the animal agriculture sub-sector.
Bala Abdulkadir Muhammad appreciated the contribution of local and international donor partners to the state, saying that such efforts would improve the socio-economic well-being of youths and women especially residents of the rural areas of the state.
