Dr. Bala Maijamaâa Wunti has expressed profound sorrow over the death of Kabiru Ahmad, a veteran cameraman with the Bauchi State Television Authority (BATV), who passed away on Sunday, 1st March 2026.
Ahmad, who was part of the team covering North-East Development Commission (NEDC) projects in Bauchi, undertook what became his final official assignment just days before his scheduled retirement in mid-February.
In a statement signed by Usman Abdullahi Koli on behalf of Dr. Wunti, the late cameraman was described as humble, calm, and highly professional, carrying out his duties with passion, pride, and unwavering commitment. He was noted for his dedication to telling stories that highlighted development and progress in society.
Dr. Wunti highlighted Ahmadâs tireless work ethic and sense of duty, describing him as a journalist committed to public service until his final days. He also acknowledged that Ahmadâs professionalism and cheerful disposition made him an invaluable member of Bauchiâs media community.
Extending his condolences, Dr. Wunti prayed for Almighty Allah to forgive Ahmadâs shortcomings, grant him Aljannatul Firdaus, and comfort his family, friends, and colleagues during this difficult time. He also commended the efforts of media practitioners whose work often requires personal sacrifice and dedication to informing the public.
Dr. Wuntiâs message was addressed to the management and staff of BATV, the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Bauchi State Council, and media professionals across the state and beyond, reaffirming his deep respect and appreciation for the media community.
