By Zainab Kasim Ibrahim

The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested two suspects for alleged criminal conspiracy, theft, and possession of stolen motorcycles in the state.

The suspects, identified as 25-year-old Nura Yau and 25-year-old Bayero Isah, both from Akuyam village in Misau Local Government Area, were apprehended on Saturday after a tip-off from a concerned citizen.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Ahmed Wakil, the incident occurred on November 1, 2025, when the suspects visited a garage in Kari village at about 9:00am and inquired about motorcycle dealers. Their suspicious behaviour led the resident to alert the Darazo Divisional Police Headquarters.

A team of detectives led by the Divisional Police Officer, SP Auwalu Ilu, swiftly moved to the scene and arrested the suspects.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects confessed to stealing motorcycles from different locations, including Akuyam on September 30, 2025, and a Juma’at Mosque in Darazo town. One of the recovered motorcycles was confirmed to belong to 50-year-old Auwal Adamu, a resident of Darazo.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, has ordered the immediate transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation and prosecution.

He urged residents to remain vigilant and continue to report suspicious activities to security agencies, stressing that community participation is key to crime prevention.
