The Bauchi State Police Command has rescued two kidnapped victims and arrested two suspects in connection with the crime, following a swift response to a distress report by its operatives.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, CSP Ahmed Wakil, who disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday, said the operation was carried out under the leadership of the Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu.

According to the statement, the incident occurred on October 25, 2025, at about 10:30 p.m., when one Mr. Stanley Abuchi, a 32-year-old resident of Wuntin Dada, Bauchi, reported to the B Divisional Police Headquarters that five unknown persons had attempted to kidnap him at his residence.

“When the kidnappers could not find him, they abducted his girlfriend, Joy Stanley, aged 23, and his friend, Adam Bala, aged 24,” the statement read.

It added that detectives from the B Division, led by the Divisional Police Officer, swiftly acted on the report and intercepted the suspects in a red Mercedes-Benz along Gidan Mai Jos Road, Bauchi. One suspect, identified as Abubakar Musa, 32, from Jos, Plateau State, was arrested, while both victims were rescued unharmed.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspects had demanded a ransom of ₦400,000 from their intended victim and had also dispossessed the abducted persons of valuables worth ₦60,000.

Further police investigation led to the arrest of another suspect, Dahiru Umar, 31, from Yandoya, Jos, Plateau State, on October 27, 2025. A handcuff used in the abduction was recovered as evidence.

The statement added that efforts are ongoing to apprehend three fleeing members of the gang identified as Ibrahim Hassan (also known as B13), Pigo, and Musa, whose surname is yet to be ascertained.

The Commissioner of Police has directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for discreet investigation and subsequent prosecution.

The Command, while reaffirming its commitment to the safety and security of residents, urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious movement or persons to the nearest police station.
