Over 60 student leaders from three universities in Bauchi State have gathered for a 2-day Amplify Leadership Workshop, aimed at harnessing their potential and expertise. The workshop, organized by Young Leaders Network and supported by LEAP Africa and Nigeria Youth Futures Fund, is being held at the American Spaces Bauchi from May 7-8, 2024.
The workshop brings together student union leaders from Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Bauchi, Bauchi State University Gadau, and The Federal Polytechnic Bauchi. The program is designed to equip participants with democratic leadership skills, promote gender inclusion and equality, strengthen political activism, and enhance democratic values and principles in student communities.
Moses Danjuma Kusko, Programmes Manager Governance of Young Leaders Network, urged participants to seize the opportunity to develop leadership skills that will enable them to make a positive impact in their communities and the country at large.
He also highlighted the objectives of the program to include: empowering students’ union leaders with democratic leadership skills, promoting gender inclusion and equality within students’ unionism, strengthening political activism and engagement among youth, and enhancing democratic values and principles in student communities.
The workshop promises to be a life-changing experience for participants, providing them with the tools, knowledge, and network to become effective leaders and change-makers in their respective institutions and beyond.
This initiative demonstrates the commitment of Young Leaders Network, LEAP Africa, and Nigeria Youth Futures Fund to empowering young leaders and promoting sustainable development in Northeast Nigeria.
