In a bid to strengthen synergy and enhance working relationships, the Executive Chairman of Tafawa Balewa Local Government, Alhaji Sama’ila Wakili, has donated 22 brand-new motorcycles to his deputy, councilors, and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) chairman of the local government.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony held at the Local Government Secretariat in Bununu, Alhaji Wakili stated that the gesture aligns with Governor Bala Muhammad’s vision for inclusive governance. He emphasized that the motorcycles would aid councilors in reaching their constituents and ensure timely reporting of community issues for prompt action.
In addition to the motorcycles, the chairman also distributed furniture to all nine village heads in the local government area. The provision, he said, recognizes their role in peacebuilding and fostering harmonious coexistence in their respective communities.
Other items distributed during the event included hospital beds and essential drugs to 48 healthcare facilities, exercise books for 80 primary and junior secondary schools, 250 solar-powered streetlights, and cash donations of ₦20,000 each to 160 beneficiaries.
The chairman further highlighted various development projects undertaken by his administration, including the construction of lockup shops in Bununu and Lere, slaughterhouses in Burga and Lere, and a police station in Zango.
Dignitaries at the event, including the Bauchi State Commissioner for Works and Transport, Prof. Titus Soul Ketkuka, commended the chairman for executing impactful projects within a short period. They urged other local government chairmen to emulate his efforts in grassroots development.
The ceremony featured the official presentation of the donated items, alongside drama performances and musical presentations.
