Tafawa Balewa Local Council Moves To Recover Forests And Grazing Reserves From Encroachers

Tafawa Balewa Local Government Council has inaugurated the implementation committee of the Government white paper on the report of the administrative committee of inquiry into the land disputes between herders and farmers caused by land use abuse and illegal allocations in local government areas across the State.

Inaugurating the committee in his office, the Chairman of Tafawa Balewa local government Mr. Daniel Mazadu Danjuma, tasked members of the committee to discharge their duty without fear or favour.

Represented by his Deputy Alhaji Dan’asabe Bununu, the Chairman said the committee is mandated to reclaim all encroached gazetted forest and grazing reserves as contained in the white paper.

The committee is also mandated to warn farmers to desist from farming along road shoulders, as doing so affects the durability of the roads and deprives other road users such as movement of livestock.

The committee to be headed by the head of administration of the local government, has some directors, senior officers and representatives of the security agents as members and it was given 30 days to carry out the assignment.
