Bauchi Govt Completes Plans For Digital Switch Over

Bauchi state government has begun the process for the digital switch-over of its media organizations for rapid development of information and digital communication in the state.

This was made known by the Director-General of the National Broadcasting Commission, NBC Mallam Balarabe Shehu Ilelah when he featured in an Albarka Radio audience participatory program Gatarin Gwari on Monday.

Balarabe Shehu Ilelah said the state government had already contacted NBC about the initiative aimed at upgrading its broadcast media outfits in line with modern best practices.

He added that plateau state was the first in the federation to switch over from analogue to digital, followed by Lagos and Rivers state is currently in the peak of preparation of the DSO.

Mallam Balarabe Shehu Ilelah also spoke about modalities put in place before a license could be issued to individuals to operate a radio or television station in the country.

According to him, efforts are in top gear for the establishment of an institution that will recruit young generation media experts in the country towards transforming the sector to a greater height.
