Bauchi State Government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Federal Government and the Cenfura Nigeria Limited for the provision of reliable power to unserved and underserved communities in rural and peri urban areas of the state.
The State Commissioner for Power, Science and Technology Maryam Garba Bagel said the signing of the MoU is to enable Bauchi to participate fully in the power sector component of the Nigerian Economic Sustainability Program.
She declared the total commitment of the administration of Governor Bala Mohammed towards facilitating the provision of reasonable incentives to support the take-off of the program in the state for the provision of electricity in the state.
“The Nigerian Economic Sustainability Program, a power sector component is piloting in two states of Bauchi and Sokoto and I am happy that the two states are the first states to show commitment and meet the requirements for the project.
“His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Bauchi State, Senator Bala Mohammed is determined and ready to make the project a success in Bauchi state,” the Commissioner said.
Hajiya Maryam Bagel explained that the partnership between the federal government, Bauchi state and the Cenfura Nigeria Limited was to achieve the 5million solar homes target of President Muhammadu Buhari under the Nigerian Economic Sustainability Program (NESP).
The Commissioner said her ministry will continue to seek partnership and collaboration with stakeholders in the sectors of power, science and technology for the overall development of the state.
