The Bauchi State House of Assembly Committee on Rural Development has pledged to closely monitor the implementation of the World Bank-supported Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing (RAAM) project aimed at improving the livelihoods of rural residents in the state.
The Chairman of the Committee, Abdulrashid Adamu Mu’azu, made this commitment during the 2025 budget defence session with the management of the State Ministry for Special Duties and Rural Development.
Mu’azu explained that the RAAM project, with support from the state government, will provide sustainable access roads in rural areas, facilitate agricultural activities, and create economic opportunities for rural communities. He assured that the Assembly would offer legislative backing to ensure the successful execution of the project.
In his remarks, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Shehu Ahmed Malle, commended the initiative, describing it as a reflection of the state government’s unprecedented commitment to improving rural infrastructure.
Malle noted that the RAAM project will transform rural Bauchi by enhancing road connectivity, boosting agricultural productivity, and improving the overall quality of life for rural dwellers.
He expressed optimism that the initiative would mark a significant milestone in addressing rural development challenges in Bauchi State.
