Changtam Global Farms Donates 10,000 Seedlings To Bauchi Govt

Changtam Global Farm has donated 1000 seedlings of different species of trees to the Bauchi State government to help control desertification in the state.

Some of the species donated include Nim, Malena, Guava, Mango, Cashew and Locust-Beans.

Mr Timothy Bitrus, the proprietor of Changtam Global Farm, said the donation is part of his meagre contribution towards eradicating the scourge of desertification and global warming in the state.

He said the bottom line of the donation is to encourage people to develop afforestation culture, something that is very critical to sustaining biodiversity in the environment.

He said 500 seedlings have been allotted to each of the 20 local government areas of the state. Each local government is mandated to distribute its share to the people for planting and nurturing.

Barrister Jidauna Tula, Commissioner for Agriculture Bauchi State, said the effort of Changtam Global Farm is a classical demonstration of how individuals and corporate entities ought to be given their quota in the struggle to end deforestation.

The Commissioner, represented by the Programme Manager Bauchi State Agricultural Development Programme, Jafaru Ilelah called on other corporate bodies, non-governmental organisations and individuals to emulate the gesture of Changtam Global Farm to checkmate desert encroachment in the state.
