A sociologist and United States-based healthcare executive, Faduri Oluwadare Joseph, popularly known as Fadojoe, has declared his intention to contest the 2027 presidential election under the platform of the National Rescue Movement (NRM), pledging to prioritise people-centred governance and rescue Nigeria from what he described as years of poor leadership and economic decline.
Faduri made the declaration in a statement on Wednesday, saying Nigeria was “bleeding” from corruption, mismanagement and the recycling of political leadership, adding that the country urgently requires decisive leadership to reverse the trend.
The Osun State-born aspirant, who hails from Ipetu-Ijesha, recounted the challenges of his early life, revealing that he lost his father at the age of four and his mother at fourteen. He noted that the experiences shaped his resolve to pursue leadership focused on improving the welfare of ordinary Nigerians.
A graduate of Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, Faduri said he later moved to the United States where he qualified as a licensed nurse in New York. He currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer of F Planet Group USA, a firm with interests in healthcare services, consulting, philanthropy and film production.
Reflecting on Nigeria’s political history, the presidential hopeful referenced the country’s founding leaders including Nnamdi Azikiwe, Abubakar Tafawa Balewa and Obafemi Awolowo, noting that the ideals of a true republic envisioned at independence had been eroded.
According to him, Nigeria has gradually drifted into a nation grappling with rising poverty, unemployment, insecurity and currency depreciation.
Faduri attributed the country’s current situation to systemic corruption and leadership failure, stressing that successive administrations have often placed personal interests above national development.
He also questioned the continued underperformance of critical national assets such as the country’s refineries and the long-stalled Ajaokuta Steel project, asking why the government continues to maintain large workforces in institutions that remain largely non-functional.
The NRM aspirant disclosed that he previously joined the Labour Party ahead of the 2023 general election and contributed to building the platform that eventually produced Peter Obi as its presidential candidate, but said he stepped down from the race at the time in the interest of unity.
Quoting American civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr., he said leadership should be measured by courage and responsibility during difficult times.
Faduri said he would contest the 2027 election on the platform of the National Rescue Movement, whose symbol is the honeybee, adding that the party aims to return Nigeria to what he described as its “honey days.”
If elected, he promised to restore economic stability, strengthen the naira, revive local refining capacity and address rising energy costs.
He also pledged to make primary and secondary education compulsory, expand technical and vocational training and ensure the prompt payment of lecturers’ salaries.
In the health sector, Faduri said his administration would rebuild and equip public hospitals to global standards, adding that no government official, including the president, would seek medical treatment abroad using public funds.
Other priorities listed by the aspirant include decentralising electricity supply, reforming and strengthening the military and police, and promoting local manufacturing, including the use of locally produced vehicles for official government functions.
Framing the 2027 election as a contest between ordinary citizens and entrenched political elites, Faduri called on Nigerians at home and in the diaspora to join what he described as a “rescue mission” aimed at rebuilding the country and restoring national prosperity.
