The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested four suspected armed robbers and recovered various stolen items following a recent house invasion in Bauchi metropolis.
According to a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), CSP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, the suspects were arrested after a complaint was lodged by one Everest Jonathan of Behind V.I.O Office, along Jos Road, Bauchi.
Wakil said the complainant reported that around 2:10 a.m. on November 11, 2025, a gang of about five armed men broke into his residence and carted away valuables, including an Android smartphone, a keypad phone, a travelling bag, two pairs of sneakers, and clothing items.
He stated that detectives led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of B’ Division, CSP Holman Simon, promptly visited the scene to assess the situation and commence investigations.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that one of the suspects, identified as 20-year-old Alhassan Jibrin, alias Babani Biri, of Danjuma Goje Area, Bauchi, unknowingly abandoned his mobile phone during the robbery operation,” the statement read.
Further police investigation led to the arrest of three other suspects: 20-year-old Lawan Idris of Behind Old Airport, Bauchi; 22-year-old Muhammad Yau, also known as Madugu, of Behind Emir’s Palace, Bauchi; and Lawan Adamu of Wayan Makafi Area, Bauchi.
During interrogation, the suspects allegedly confessed to conspiring among themselves to invade residential houses in the area behind the V.I.O Office, along Jos Road, where they robbed residents of their belongings on several occasions.
Items recovered from the suspects include one travelling bag, two sets of clothes, two pairs of sneakers, two sharp cutlasses, one Android phone, one keypad phone, and two torchlights, among others.
The PPRO added that efforts are ongoing to apprehend other members of the gang still at large.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, has directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation, after which the suspects will be charged to court.
