Russia Gains Control Of Another City In Ukraine

Russian-backed forces have taken control of the city of Lyman in the eastern Donetsk region, Ukrainian officials say.

Ukrainian governor of the Donetsk region, Pavlo Kyrylenko, claims Lyman was “mainly controlled by Russian troops”.

Control of Severodonetsk and neighbouring Lysychansk is also the focus of Russian forces as they fight to seize further territory in Donbas.

Ukraine calls for more heavy weapons from the US, with the White House considering sending an advanced long-range rocket system.

UK PM Boris Johnson says Russian forces continue to “chew through ground” in the region, adding that Putin is making slow but palpable progress.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has warned that Donbas could be left uninhabited by the Russian invasion.
