Abubakar Tatari Ali Polytechnic Bauchi has urged students and academics to inculcate the culture of reading and research towards the advancement of knowledge and development of the nation’s education sector.
The Rector of the Polytechnic Dr Adamu Saidu made the call at the distribution of thirteen thousand published books by some of its academics to some selected Primary, Secondary and Tertiary institutions in Bauchi and Gombe States under the TETFUND Research and Development program.
Dr Adamu Saidu said reading and research are the foundation to the development of any educational system and the society as a whole, hence the need for students and academics from the benefitting institutions to strive towards achieving such feat so as to become acclaimed scholars of global repute.
Earlier, the Director Academic Planning of the Polytechnic Dr Yusuf Abarshi said the program which is supported by TETFUND is to ensure the documentation and publication of research works by academics under the fund’s scholarship.
Dr Yusuf Abarshi who disclosed that the exercise is also part of the institution’s corporate social responsibility towards improving the living condition of neighbouring communities, called on the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the donation.
Speaking on behalf of the benefitting institutions, a lecturer with Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University ATBU Bauchi Dr Basaka Abubakar appreciated the polytechnic for sharing the results of its research works and promised to ensure that researches done are developed and expanded for national growth and development.
In a remark, the Registrar ATAP Bauchi Malam Abdullahi Alhaji Adamu expressed gratitude to the management of the Polytechnic for the initiative and thanked all the beneficiaries for honouring the invitation.
Institutions to benefit from the books distribution in fifteen different fields include four Universities in Gombe and Bauchi States, twenty one Polytechnics, Colleges of Education and other Monotechnics within Bauchi and Gombe States as well as thirty five Secondary Schools in Bauchi.
