The Independent National Electoral Commission, Bayelsa State Office, Southern Nigeria, has confirmed that a boat carrying election personnel to Registration Area-17 (Koluama) in Southem Ijaw LGA of Bayelsa state capsized enroute the location. President Bola Tinubu has said 12 million families will get N8,000 over a period of six months to lessen the hardships faced by Nigerians as a result of subsidy removal. The Department of State Services (DSS) has charged Mr Godwin Emefiele, suspended CBN Governor to Court. This is in compliance with the order of an Abuja High Court on Thursday. A statement by the DSS Public Relations Officer, Peter Afunanya, explained that the Service had in 2022, applied for a court order to detain Emefiele over a criminal investigation but was restrained by an FCT High Court. According to him, the suspended CBN Governor was however, arrested in June 2023, on suspected fresh criminal infractions/information, one of which forms the basis for his current prosecution.
