Bauchi, Nigeria – A civil society group, Bauchi People’s Advocate for Good Governance, has strongly condemned what it describes as “false, malicious, and politically motivated” allegations made by Abdullahi Ishaq Jibrin, a dismissed staff of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and former Personal Assistant to retired Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG), Ahmed Abdulrahman.

In a statement signed by its spokesperson, Aliyu Musa, the group dismissed Jibrin’s recent accusations as “baseless fabrications” aimed at tarnishing the reputation of AIG Abdulrahman — a respected Islamic scholar, retired law enforcement officer, and philanthropist.

Denial of Allegations

The group categorically denied Jibrin’s claim that he investigated the Bauchi State Governor while serving as a Personal Assistant to the Security Adviser. According to the group, the allegation is “ludicrous and unfounded,” with no link whatsoever between the governor and any such conspiracy. “The people of Bauchi are too discerning to be misled by such fiction,” the statement read.

Exposé of Jibrin’s Background

Delving into Jibrin’s background, the group revealed that he was dismissed from the EFCC following an internal investigation — reportedly initiated by AIG Abdulrahman — which found him guilty of extorting money and a vehicle from suspects. His tenure with AIG Abdulrahman, contrary to claims of a long-standing relationship spanning over 17 years, was only two years, during which he allegedly enjoyed financial support and mentorship from the retired AIG.

“He was provided ₦200,000 on two occasions to support his relocation and was also funded to start a pharmacy business, which he mismanaged,” the group said.

Debunking Fraudulent Claims

The group further challenged Jibrin to publicly provide evidence of his claims, including an appointment letter confirming his purported long tenure, certificates from alleged FBI training, and documentation supporting his bribery and “underground agenda” claims against AIG Abdulrahman.

“This is nothing short of a desperate attempt by a disgraced individual to regain relevance through slander and blackmail,” the statement added.

Legal Action Underway

According to Aliyu Musa, legal proceedings have already commenced against Jibrin for criminal defamation under Section 375 of the Penal Code, fraudulent misrepresentation, and attempted extortion. The group called on the media and general public to disregard the allegations and reaffirmed their support for AIG Abdulrahman, whose contributions to policing and community development they described as “commendable and enduring.”

“The legacy of AIG Abdulrahman remains unblemished. We will ensure that justice is served and that this smear campaign is exposed for what it truly is — a pathetic cry for attention by a discredited former aide,” the statement concluded
