The First Lady of Bauchi State and Founder of the Al-Muhibbah Foundation, Hajiya Aishatu Bala Abdulkadir Muhammad, has been honoured with a special award of excellence by the Alkaleri Youth Development Association in recognition of her remarkable contributions to grassroots development, women and youth empowerment.

Speaking during the awards presentation ceremony held in Alkaleri, Hajiya Aishatu Bala expressed profound gratitude for the honour, describing the award as not just a personal recognition but a symbol of collective efforts toward a better Bauchi State.

“I see this award not just as a recognition of my personal efforts but as a reflection of our shared commitment to build a better Bauchi State, especially for our women, youths and the vulnerable population,” she stated.

The First Lady highlighted several projects under the Al-Muhibbah Foundation that have positively impacted Alkaleri Local Government Area. These include the construction of two hospitals in Alkaleri town and Jandam, aimed at improving access to healthcare, as well as the establishment of two fully equipped skills acquisition centres in Duguri and Alkaleri town, targeting women and youth empowerment.

She further cited the success of the “Not Too Late to Learn” initiative, which has returned over 300 women—many of them married—back to the classroom, equipping them with literacy and vocational skills.

“Many of these women are now inspiring others, proving that it is never too late to chase one’s dreams,” she said.

Hajiya Aishatu also used the platform to call on parents, particularly mothers, to pay closer attention to the education and moral upbringing of their children, stressing the importance of sending both boys and girls to school.

“In Islam, there is no distinction between the male and female child when it comes to seeking knowledge or doing business. Let’s give equal opportunity and protect our children from moral decay,” she emphasized.

She lamented the rising challenges in the country including hunger, insecurity, and moral decline, particularly among youths, and urged community members to intensify prayers for peace, good leadership, and social transformation.

The First Lady also advised mothers to ensure their daughters are not exposed to street hawking at the expense of their safety and education.

“Let us bring back the culture of home-based businesses. You can still support your family from home, just as our mothers did selling kunun zaki, zobo, kosai, and tsamiya,” she added.

In closing, she reaffirmed her commitment to Alkaleri and the entire Bauchi State, noting that as a daughter of the area, she will continue to set examples that promote development, empowerment, and positive change.

“I urge the youths of Alkaleri to remain agents of peace, innovation, and progress. This award strengthens my resolve to do more,” she concluded.

The event was attended by the Deputy Chairman of Alkaleri Local Government, spouses of dignitaries, traditional and religious leaders, security officials, women and youth groups, and members of the media.
