Ahead of Saturday’s governorship and state house of assembly elections, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has deployed 3000 personnel to ensure peaceful polls in Bauchi State.
Speaking during a special briefing to the personnel Bauchi State NSCDC Commandant, James Edoh said as security agents, they are not expected to be partisan to any sect or idea or candidate.
He said NSCDC operatives found to be involved in an effort to sabotage free and fair credible elections will be made to face the full wrath of the law.
“We have CG’s intelligence force from Abuja and other tactical men, the men without riffles and arms men.
“We are strategising on how to ensure maximum security for the elections. I warn my men and women not to be political because we are non-political agents. We don’t take sides with anybody.
“They are going to monitor the elections against votes buying. The tactical personnel will be going around. As I am speaking to you, there are personnel who are going around towns and villages to fend off any possible pre-election violence.
“The command is deploying about 3000 personnel for the upcoming elections on Saturday,” he said.
The Commandant assured that NSCDC personnel will mann all the polling units in Bauchi to a hitch-free exercise.
