In a swift response to circulating rumors, the Bauchi State Government has categorically denied plans to join the nationwide protest slated for early August. Secretary to the State Government, Barrister Ibrahim Kashim, made the declaration at a press conference held at the Government House on Wednesday.
Kashim emphasized that the government is not aware of, nor welcoming, any protest in the state. He warned potential protesters to “think twice” before attempting to organize any demonstration in Bauchi, stressing that the state will not tolerate any breakdown of law and order.
The press conference was prompted by false information circulating about the state’s approval to close Primary Healthcare Centers on the day of the planned protest. Kashim debunked this claim, stating that the government had no knowledge of or involvement in the decision.
An investigation into the matter has been launched, and the officer responsible for sharing the false information will face consequences. Kashim assured that all Primary Healthcare Centers and public institutions in the state will remain open, emphasizing the government’s commitment to maintaining peace and stability.
This swift response from the Bauchi State Government demonstrates its dedication to upholding law and order, while also addressing misinformation and reassuring citizens of its commitment to their well-being.
