The National Bureau of Statistics says the five-year national development plan of President Muhammadu Buhari is feasible through the application of accurate and reliable data
The Chairman, Governing board of the Bureau, Dr Kabiru Nakaura stated this during a retreat for the Board and Management of NBS holding in Akwanga, Nasarawa State.
Dr Nakaura said the importance of Data collection on critical national matters could not be overemphasized, hence the need for collaboration among stakeholders towards achieving the national plan
The Statistician-General of the Federation, Dr Simon Harry said the ongoing transformation in the Bureau was part of his agenda to reposition NBS towards producing accurate and reliable statistics for informed decision making among policymakers.
Dr Harry urged the Board Members, Staff, and other critical stakeholders in Data processing to support the corporate strategic plans of the National Bureau of Statistics to become the foremost Statistics Bureau in Africa.
The President of, Nigerian Statistical Association, Mr Ebuh Godday said the retreat would enhance modalities for effective Service delivery of the Bureau on National issues especially the National population Census scheduled to take place later in the year.
