The First Lady of Bauchi State, Hajia (Dr.) Aisha Bala Mohammad, has reaffirmed the commitment of the state government to supporting women and vulnerable groups through socio-economic development initiatives. She made this known during the distribution of food items for the 2024 Christmas celebrations, held at Dr. Suleiman Adamu Square, Government House, Bauchi, on Monday, December 23, 2024.
In her speech, the First Lady expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah for the opportunity to gather for the occasion. She congratulated Christians in the state on the festive season and urged them to view the season as a time for sober reflection and prayer for the country’s leaders.
Hajia Aisha emphasized the commitment of Governor Bala Mohammad Abdulkadir’s administration to improving the lives of women and vulnerable groups, noting that programs designed to support them demonstrate the government’s priority toward bridging the gap of marginalization.
“The state government cannot provide enough for everyone, but I believe that when women are supported and given opportunities, they can improve their lives and those of their children,” she stated.
She further called on mothers to remain vigilant about their children’s movements and guard them against criminal activities, highlighting the need for collective efforts to address societal ills such as abduction and rape.
The distribution featured 500 bags of rice, 500 bags of maize, 70 cartons of vegetable oil, and 20 cows, aimed at reaching churches, women’s groups, and vulnerable individuals across the state.
Hajia Aisha urged citizens to work together in promoting awareness and supporting one another with unity and diligence. She concluded by wishing the Christian community a joyous celebration and a prosperous New Year.
The event drew attendees from various groups, reflecting the government’s inclusive approach to celebrating the festive season with all citizens.
