NSCDC in Bauchi Arrest Man for making 7 Million naira Fake Bank Transfer for Car Purchase

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Bauchi State Command has arrested a 30-year-old man, Hanif Muhammad Umar, for allegedly making a fake alert transaction to purchase a car worth ₦7 million.

Parading the suspect and his accomplice on Thursday at the NSCDC headquarters in Bauchi the Public Relations Officer of the Corp Saminu Yusuf, said the suspect will face charges for cybercrime and breach of trust.

According to him, the suspect was arrested on February 22, 2026, at Misau, Bauchi State, following a report made to the NSCDC.

The NSCDC has warned the public, especially youths, to desist from such activities as it is a breach of public trust punishable by law hence whoever is caught will face the full weight of the law.

Saminu urged the public to report any suspicious activities to the authorities adding that the suspect is currently facing charges and will be prosecuted accordingly.

The NSCDC reiterates its commitment to fighting cybercrime and protecting citizens from financial scams.

Speaking to the suspect, Hanif Muhammad Umar revealed he studied computer science and learnt how to make fake transactions after taking a cyber security course.

The suspect claimed he made the transaction hoping to sell the car and return the money to the victim which NSCDC discovered to be cooked up stories to cover up his crime.
