Police Foil Robbery Attempt in Azare, Arrest Two Suspects

The Bauchi State Police Command has foiled a robbery attempt and arrested two suspects in possession of firearms and a stolen motorcycle in Azare town, Katagum Local Government Area of the state.

According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, the suspects were apprehended following a swift response by operatives to a distress call received on October 25, 2025, around 5:00 a.m.

Wakil explained that the distress call came from one Adamu Abdullahi of Gandum Wambai area, Azare, who reported that armed men invaded his business premises, GKY Food and Oil Mills, and carted away a motorcycle.

“Upon receipt of the report, police operatives from Azare Division, in collaboration with local vigilantes, immediately swung into action and pursued the fleeing suspects to Lafiya village along the Lafiya–Gwasame road,” the statement read.

The suspects, identified as Hassan Babangida (25) and Abdullahi Hussaini (27), both of Hanafari village in Jama’are Local Government Area, were arrested and found with two locally made guns and the stolen motorcycle.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, commended the prompt action of the operatives and the cooperation of the vigilante group, noting that their synergy led to the successful operation.

He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to combating crime and ensuring the safety of lives and property across Bauchi State, adding that investigations were ongoing to uncover the suspects’ criminal network.

The statement also urged residents to remain vigilant and continue to provide useful information to the police for timely response to security challenges.
