Police Arrest Suspected Cattle Rustlers, Recover 10 Stolen Cows in Bauchi

Bauchi State Police Command has arrested two suspected cattle rustlers in possession of ten stolen cows in Maikwangi village, Ningi Local Government Area.
The suspects, identified as Umar Usman, 24, and Auwal Mohammed, 22, from Sabo Local Government Area of Kaduna State, were apprehended on August 14, 2025, following an intelligence tip-off.
According to the Command, detectives from Ningi Divisional Police Headquarters, in collaboration with other security agencies, acted swiftly under the leadership of the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) and succeeded in arresting the suspects.
During interrogation, the duo confessed to stealing the cattle from a Fulani settlement in Gwamnare bush, Maikwangi village, about a month ago.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), CSP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, who confirmed the arrest, said the public, especially residents of Gwamnare bush, should help disseminate the information to trace the rightful owners of the recovered cattle.
He added that investigation is ongoing, after which the suspects will be profiled and charged to court.
