The Bauchi State House of Assembly has passed the 2025 Appropriation Bill through its second reading during a plenary session presided over by Speaker Abubakar Y. Sulaiman. The motion for the bill’s progression was moved by the House Majority Leader and member representing Disina Constituency, Sale Hodi Jibir.
In his remarks after receiving the proposed budget, Speaker Sulaiman pledged the legislature’s commitment to ensuring a smooth and expedited passage of the fiscal proposal. He assured that the Assembly remains steadfast in fulfilling its constitutional responsibilities to promote good governance.
“The proposed 2025 budget is designed to catalyze the transformation of the socio-economic conditions of all residents of the state,” the Speaker said.
He urged Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to cooperate fully by providing comprehensive information during their budget defense sessions with the relevant House committees to facilitate the smooth passage of the estimates.
The Speaker lauded Governor Bala Mohammed for his timely and consistent presentation of the state budget to the legislature. He also warned that any MDA heads found lacking in their responsibilities during the process would face sanctions.
Sulaiman further emphasized the harmonious relationship between the executive and legislative arms, noting that their collaboration has significantly contributed to the delivery of public services.
He concluded by appreciating the governor’s approval of a ₦70,000 minimum wage for state civil servants, describing it as a testament to the administration’s commitment to workers’ welfare.
