The Bauchi Emirate Council has pledged to work closely with the Bauchi State Ministry of Women Affairs and Child Development in addressing cases of gender-based violence across the state.
The Emir of Bauchi, Alhaji Rilwanu Sulaiman Adamu, gave the assurance during an advocacy visit by officials of the ministry and UN Women. He was represented at the event by the Ajiyan Bauchi, Alhaji Bala Abubakar Attahiru.

The monarch reaffirmed the Emirate’s commitment to protecting the rights and dignity of women and children, noting that traditional institutions have a crucial role to play in preventing abuse and promoting safer communities.
In her remarks, the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Child Development, Hajiya Zainab Babban Tanko, said the campaign was designed to mobilize stakeholders in safeguarding the lives and rights of women and girls in the state.
She appealed to traditional leaders to collaborate with the government and international partners in supporting victims and ensuring justice. The Commissioner also urged journalists and civil society organizations to amplify the campaign and challenge harmful cultural practices that fuel violence.
