A group of journalists and Islamic advocates in Bauchi State have unveiled a book documenting the life, scholarship and enduring legacy of the late renowned Islamic scholar, Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi.
The book, titled “Rayuwa Wajen Hidimta wa Addini, Tarihin Maulana Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi,” chronicles the late cleric’s lifelong dedication to Islamic propagation, education and spiritual leadership in Nigeria and beyond.
The publication was formally presented to the family of the late scholar during a special prayer session held in Bauchi, marking forty days after his demise. The event drew Islamic scholars, students and followers from within and outside the state, who gathered to honour the memory and contributions of the revered preacher.
Speaking at the event, the leader of the coalition, Imam Dr. Muhammad Mujtaba Abdulkadir, said the idea to produce the book was inspired by the far-reaching influence of Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi on Islamic education and moral development in Bauchi State, Nigeria and other African countries.
According to him, although several books and academic works were written about the cleric during his lifetime, the coalition considered it necessary to document his lifestyle and contributions after his passing in order to preserve his legacy for future generations.
Dr. Abdulkadir noted that the book provides insight into the personal discipline, humility and unwavering devotion that defined the life of the late Islamic scholar, adding that it serves both as a biography and a guide for young people seeking knowledge, leadership and service in Islam.
The coalition leader, who was represented at the event by Bayero Idris Dajin and Abubakar Abdulkadir of the Bauchi State Television (BATV), said the publication captures both the public and private dimensions of Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi’s life.
He further disclosed that a Book Production and Documentation Committee was set up specifically for the project, explaining that the committee worked extensively to gather accurate information, testimonies and historical records to ensure the authenticity of the publication.
Dr. Abdulkadir commended members of the committee for their dedication and teamwork, noting that the successful production of the book was achieved despite limited resources.
He also appealed to wealthy individuals and philanthropists within and outside Bauchi State to support the project financially, stating that such assistance would enable the production of an additional 50,000 copies for wider circulation.
According to him, mass distribution of the book would help preserve Islamic history and ensure that the teachings and values of Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi continue to inspire future generations.
Responding on behalf of the Sheikh Dahiru family, the Khalifa of Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi, Sheikh Ibrahim Dahiru Bauchi, expressed deep appreciation to the coalition for the initiative.
He described the publication as a worthy tribute to the late scholar and thanked the group for documenting the life and contributions of their father, noting that the book would remain a valuable reference for generations to come.
