Bauchi Police Foil Armed Robbery, Arrest Four Suspects with Weapons

The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested four suspected armed robbers who allegedly terrorized residents of Madina Quarters and Fadaman Mada area of Bauchi metropolis.

On August 16, 2025, around 3:20 a.m., a distress call alerted the police about a gang of about 20 armed men wielding guns, machetes, knives, and sticks, who stormed the communities and robbed several houses.

Detectives from C Division, led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), mobilized quickly with support from community members. On sighting the police, the suspects fled, but one of the victims, Jamilu Usman, 35, was found robbed alongside nine others. Items stolen included 14 mobile phones, two televisions, two male gowns, and ₦100,000 cash.

Around 5:03 a.m. the same day, police arrested Ahmed Hassan, 20, of Tirwun area, with a stolen mobile phone in his possession. His confession led to the arrest of three others: Ismail Isah (18), Uzaifa Abubakar (19), and Abdulhamid Idris (20).

Exhibits recovered from the suspects include:bOne locally made revolver gun, One live 7.62mm ammunition, One knife, One short Dane gun, Two machetes and One torchlight.

PPRO CSP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil said the suspects confessed to carrying out multiple robbery operations in Bauchi. He added that efforts are ongoing to arrest other fleeing members of the gang.
