The Chairperson of the Persons With Disability (PWD) Commission, Mrs. Brisca Jaron, has announced that the commission will focus on education and empowerment initiatives for persons with special needs to enhance their self-reliance.

Mrs. Jaron made the statement while appearing before the Bauchi State House of Assembly Committee to defend the agency’s 2026 budget proposal. Highlighting key strategies for the upcoming year, Mrs. Jaron said sponsoring education and providing essential support services are central to the commission’s agenda. She emphasized that disability does not mean inability, noting that persons with special needs make meaningful contributions to nation-building and play vital roles across various sectors.

The chairperson further disclosed that the commission has been allocated over ₦1 billion in the 2026 budget. She expressed confidence that with proper investment, more persons with disabilities will lead dignified and productive lives.

Mrs. Jaron called on stakeholders to support the commission’s efforts, stressing that empowerment and education are key to unlocking the potential of persons with special needs.
