NUJ, FRSC Partner to Curb Misuse of Press Tags, Enhance Road Safety

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has sounded the alarm on the rampant misuse of press tags on vehicles across the country.

This pressing issue was brought to the forefront during a courtesy visit by Corps Commander Istifanus A. Ibrahim, the newly appointed Sector Commander of FRSC in Bauchi, to NUJ Chairman Comrade Umar Sa’idu at the Council Secretariat Bauchi.

Comrade Umar Sa’idu emphasized that the improper use of press tags by motorists constitutes impersonation, undermining the integrity of journalism and compromising journalistic ethics.

He urged the federal government to boost operational funding for the Federal Road Safety Corp (FRSC) to effectively regulate traffic and ensure road safety.

Earlier The FRSC Sector Commander in Bauchi state, Corps Commander Istifanus Ibrahim Explained that The command has intensified awareness on the need for road safety protocols to mitigate crashes especially during it Ember months of September to December that consist Festivities.

According to him The collaboration between FRSC and NUJ is aimed to tackle the persistent road accidents in Bauchi State through awareness for responsible driving practices and the consequences of Reckless driving.
