Plateau State Government and Search for Common Ground Host Seminar on Social Media and Conflict Prevention Ahead of 2024 World Peace Day

lEach year, the International Day of Peace is marked globally on 21 September as fixed by the United Nations general assembly.

Ahead of the 2024 world peace day celebration, a non governmental organization Search for Common Ground in collaboration with Plateau State government through Plateau Peace Building Agency has organized a one day seminar for youths and media persons.

In her address of welcome the Director General Plateau Peace Building Agency Madam Julie Sanda urged the participants to embrace their differences and live peacefully with one another for the benefit of all, saying that without peace there will be no progress and development.

One of the facilitators during the seminar Mr. Sefa Chia who presented a paper on Social media as a tool for conflict prevention and peace building advised the participants to be cautious of what they post on their social media handles, and promote peace through their means.

Another facilitator Mr. Shama Balami presented a paper on Conflict sensitivity and Do No Harm, emphasized that anything that is likely to cause harm to another person should be avoided, as maintaining peace is a duty for everyone.

Albarka Radio correspondent Aminu Harsanu Guyaba report that the theme of the seminar is Appreciative Inquiry and Mentorship Seminar for BYRAN, Youths and Media Persons to Commemorate World Peace Day 2024.

The event which held at Old Government House Rayfield in Jos had participants from Plateau, Bauchi and Gombe States.
