By Aminu Harsanu Guyaba

Social media micro-influencers from Plateau, Bauchi, and Gombe States have gathered in Jos for a five-day exposure tour aimed at fostering peaceful coexistence and promoting positive social change through their online platforms.

The tour is part of a 24-month project titled “Nigerian Youth Collaborative Action for Religious Engagement” (Youth CARE), organized by Search for Common Ground in partnership with the Young Leaders Network.

Mrs. Munira Yarima Askira, the Youth CARE Program Manager, addressed the participants during the opening ceremony, emphasizing the importance of understanding the cultural diversity in Plateau State. She encouraged the influencers to actively participate in the activities and share their experiences with their followers, using their platforms to advocate for peace.

“Peace is the foundation of development in any society, and we hope that through this exposure, you will help promote narratives that build bridges and unite communities,” Mrs. Askira said.

Digital Peace Building Officers, Mr. Shama Balami and Ms. Fatima Danlami, highlighted the crucial role influencers play in shaping perceptions and promoting peace. They urged participants to use their influence to foster unity and dismantle harmful stereotypes.

The tour is designed to facilitate knowledge exchange, provide networking opportunities, and allow influencers to adopt best practices in peacebuilding.

Albarka Radio correspondent Aminu Harsanu Guyaba, who is also part of the tour, reports that the event seeks to deepen collaboration among young leaders committed to promoting peaceful coexistence in their communities.
