Christians in Bogoro LGA Urged to foster Unity, forgiveness and compassion

By Silas Shentukwak

Christians in Bogoro Local Government Area have been called to emulate the teachings and life of Jesus Christ as they celebrate Christmas.

The call was made by the Executive Chairman of Bogoro LGA, Hon. Surv. Lawi Yakubu Sumi, during the 2024 Christmas service held at COCIN Church LCC Vingam.

In his address, Hon. Lawi emphasized the significance of Christmas as a celebration marking the birth of Jesus Christ, who came for the redemption of mankind.

He urged Christians to reflect on the teachings of Jesus Christ by fostering unity, forgiveness, and compassion in their daily lives.

“Christmas is a time to pray for our nation and for the unity of our communities. We must avoid behaviors that undermine the progress of Bogoro, Bauchi State, and Nigeria as a whole. Let us support the poor, forgive one another, and respect each other as Jesus Christ taught us,” he said.

Hon. Lawi stressed the importance of unity as a cornerstone for societal growth and prosperity, noting that without unity, achieving social, economic, and political progress would be impossible.

The Christmas service attracted notable personalities, including Professor Suleman E. Bogoro, former Executive Secretary of TETFUND, Hon. Musa Wakili Nakwada, member representing Bogoro constituency in the Bauchi State House of Assembly, as well as councilors from the 13 wards of Bogoro LGA.

The event was marked by prayers, songs, and messages of hope, with attendees reaffirming their commitment to fostering peace, unity, and development in Bogoro and beyond.
