The Managing Director of Albarka Radio Bauchi Umar Ladan Salihu has advocated for more women participation in politics to ensure equitable opportunities and sustainable environment.
He said the political structure in Nigeria is dominated by men, hence the need to empower more women with a view to ensuring equal representation.
According to the managing director, that could only be achieved if women collaborate with their Male counterparts and other key stakeholders in the political space in ensuring that women are given opportunity to actively participate in politics.
Umar Ladan Salihu made his position known at a One Day Conference on Women at the Grassroots in Politics organized by the Development Exchange Center and supported by German organisation Bread for the World, held in Gombe, the Gombe state Capital.
While commending the organisers, he added that the conference is apt as it will strengthen leadership capabilities of women at the Grassroots and by extension ensure equal representation.
Umar Ladan Salihu assured the commitment of Albarka Radio to continue collaborating with organisation that promote the the course of women participation in politics, so as to inspire, educate and motivate women leaders to actively participate in political processes at the grassroots level.
Correspondent Muhammad Sani Muazu reports that the conference had in attendance representatives from Media Organisations, ministry of women affairs, women in politics, Federation of Muslim Women Association of Nigeria (FOMWAN) and Women Wing of Christians Association of Nigeria (WOMICAN) from Adamawa, Bauchi and Borno states.
